This quiet street in the historic center of Delft was painted by Vermeer between 1657 - 1658. It is highly detailed in the brickwork and uses thick layers of paint. It shows the daily live of the era. The exact locationis not known, but suggested to be the Nieuwe Langendijk or the Voldersgracht in Delft.
The painting is part of the collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
About Johannes Vermeer
Johannes Vermeer, Dutch painter of the 17th century. He was a true Dutch Master and started out painting genre pieces and historic scenes. Later in his career he also made his well known portraits and cityscapes.
For each of the artworks we've included additional detail pictures to show the quality of the materals we work with.
The 'Dutch Masters art' brand was born in the heart of the historic center of Amsterdam, on the Singel canal. Every day many holiday makers enjoy the rich culture of The Netherlands, especially in museums like the Van Gogh museum and the Rijksmuseum. Inspired by these famous canals and the rich history of the 17th century Dutch art we started our collection. We started with art from the golden age, but in later years we also added other famous pieces from later date, including van Gogh. So now you can find both baroque art as well as (post-) modernism on our website. Our collection is handpicked for best quality and are made to order with the latest reproduction techniques available today.
