  • The quality of Dutch Masters art

The Girl in red kimono is a much loved painting by Breitner showing both his favorite model (named Geesje Kwak) and the influence of Japan in the Dutch Art (Dutch Japonisme). He made a series of seven paintings with this model showing kimono's, either standing or lying on a bed. Elsewere on our website you can also find the 'girl in white kimono' from that series. The painting was originally created around 1883 - 1888.

About Breitner

Breitner was the leading figure of the Amsterdam Impressionism. Together with painter Isaac Israëls he represents the best of Dutch impressionism and is close to the 'tachtigers' group. Although he was born in Rotterdam and went to the art academy in The Hague his paintings of the 'real' Amsterdam is what he is best known for. He regarded himself as storyteller of the true everyday life of that period.

For each of the artworks we've included additional detail pictures to show the quality of the materals we work with.

The 'Dutch Masters art' brand was born in the heart of the historic center of Amsterdam, on the Singel canal. Every day many holiday makers enjoy the rich culture of The Netherlands, especially in museums like the Van Gogh museum and the Rijksmuseum. Inspired by these famous canals and the rich history of the  17th century Dutch art we started our collection. We started with art from the golden age, but in later years we also added other famous pieces from later date, including van Gogh. So now you can find both baroque art as well as (post-) modernism on our website. Our collection is handpicked for best quality and are made to order with the latest reproduction techniques available today.

Since we make all wall coverings to our customers specification we can offer you any size or cut out you would like. We hope you enjoy our collection and please contact us if you need any help. We'll be happy to discuss the numerous possibilities for your home or project.
